Vision & Values

We are an independent shop offering hand curated collections of clothing, accessories and footwear, chosen by us for you, conscious of the planet and remaining authentic to our values.

The main window of Kitty Brown Boutique's clothing department. There is a bright pink and turquoise dress with long sleeves and v neck. A vest top in multi vertical stripe and no sleeves and a round neck. A sleeveless v neck top in turquoise with floral design. A range of scarves and bags. The window is decorated with paintings of citrus fruits.

 We are:

  • Person Centred
  • Aiming to make people feel comfortable, encouraged and prepared
  • An encouraging and helpful environment

We hand curate collections from brands that offer clothing for our diverse women, including a range of styles, shapes and ages.  We try to make choices that are sustainable and ethical, asking the awkward questions of the brands that we invest in. We like to support small brands and local makers.

Our aim is to be:

  • Authentic and genuine
  • Approachable and friendly
  • To offer inspiration and meet your desires

Ethics & Sustainability

Our responsibility towards people and the planet is something that we take very seriously. Here are some of the ways that we can work together to achieve responsible buying habit:

  • Buy less by buying better quality and timeless styles
  • Using low impact fibres such as organic cotton, recycled polyester and green manufacturing practices
  • Work with charities to ensure that unsold stock finds a good home
  • Try to mend faults where we can
  • Deliver orders in paper based packaging by 2nd class post as standard

Ethical trading is even more important to us. We hold our brands to account for the working conditions of their employees throughout the supply chain. Our standards include:

  • Aiming for fair trade rather than minimum legal welfare requirements
  • No child labour or forced labour
  • Appropriate wages, working hours and conditions
  • For our own staff we aim to continue paying above the national living wage

We know that things are always changing. We are trying to be make every decision and choice better than the one we made before. We are working together with the support of the brands and our customers to make Kitty Brown Boutique the choice that does not cost the Earth.

Community

We are closely linked to our local community and we are passionate about the role that local businesses can play in the improvement of the lives of those around us. Kitty Brown plays an active role in the local business network, supporting other businesses and events that the town of Carnforth puts on.

Through our fashion shows we support local community groups by connecting people together and raising money for charities. Kitty Brown directly supports the Neuro Dropin charity based in Lancaster that support people and their families who live with a neurological condition.

We actively input into our staff team, making sure that we celebrate with them. We hope to help develop the team through courses both locally and nationally and even supporting one with an apprenticeship degree!
